The periodontics residency program is a three-year commitment that provides graduate dentists with the skills and knowledge to master clinical periodontics. Successful completion of the residency enables graduates to participate in the oral and written qualifying examinations of the American Board of Periodontology. The resident will become thoroughly familiar with the classic and current periodontal literature and will participate in clinical experiences in examination, diagnosis, and all accepted modes of periodontal therapy, including regenerative modalities, dental implants, intravenous sedation and hospital dentistry. The program provides residents with the training necessary to meet the present and future challenges of periodontal practice, and to take on leadership roles in academic and professional periodontics.
