The doctoral training program in neuroscience is not linked solely to the Department of Neuroscience but instead is administered through the campus-wide Center for Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh (CNUP). The CNUP Graduate Training Program is an interschool PhD degree-granting program offered cooperatively by the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Medicine. Our program introduces students to the fundamental issues and experimental approaches in the study of the structure and function of the nervous system and trains them in the theory and practice of laboratory research. Research interests of the CNUP training faculty focus on the following themes: behavioral/systems/cognitive; cell and molecular; development/plasticity/repair; and neurobiology of disease. In addition, the Department of Neuroscience itself administers a small, research-oriented masters program leading to the MS degree.
