The doctoral training program in neuroscience is not linked solely to the Department of Neurobiology but instead is administered through the campus-wide Center for Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh (CNUP). The CNUP Graduate Training Program is an interschool PhD degree-granting program offered cooperatively by the School of Medicine and the School of Arts and Sciences. Our program introduces students to the fundamental issues and experimental approaches in the study of the structure and function of the nervous system and trains them in the theory and practice of laboratory research. Research interests of the CNUP training faculty focus on the following themes: behavioral/systems/cognitive; cell and molecular; development/plasticity/repair; and neurobiology of disease.
