The Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology advanced education program offers a 36-month residency certificate through the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Medical Education Program (UPMCMEP). The program offers a mix of core didactic courses at the School of Dental Medicine, electives, anatomical general and oral pathology, histopathology, clinical oral pathology, oral and maxillofacial radiology, head and neck pain conference, journal club, hospital rotations, and research. Clinical patients will be seen at the Montefiore Dental Center. The surgical oral pathology (biopsy) rotation is located at the University Dental Health Services (UDHS), the faculty practice located in the School of Dental Medicine. Clinical oral pathology consultation training is performed in the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. A significant portion of the residency is devoted to rotations at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center-Presbyterian University Hospital, Department of Pathology, which will expose the resident to a large volume and wide variety of experiences. Other required rotations include anatomic pathology, autopsy, dermatopathology, and clinical laboratory medicine.
