This program offers an interdisciplinary certificate requiring study of an East European language equivalent to three years at the college level, as well as six approved courses on the region and the completion of a substantial research paper using original language sources. The certificate is taken in conjunction with the students' graduate degree in one of the disciplines of the School of Arts and Sciences or one of the professional graduate schools. Fellowships and research fellowships for study abroad are available to graduate students through the Center for Russian and East European Studies.
A joint certificate in East European Studies, Russian Studies, or Soviet Studies and International and Comparative Law is offered to students in the School of Law who complete 19 credits in international and comparative law courses, along with the East European Studies, Russian Studies, or Soviet Studies certificate program requirements.
