The School of Dental Medicine offers a four-year program that prepares students for their first professional degree as a doctor of dental medicine. Clinical experiences form a large part of the student's training, but research opportunities are available and encouraged. The School of Dental Medicine offers a two-year Advanced Standing Program which is available for foreign dentists wanting to earn a U.S. dental degree. The school also offers residency programs in advanced education in general dentistry, dental anesthesiology, endodontics, general practice residency, oral and maxillofacial pathology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, and prosthodontics.
